Appointments

How do I make an appointment with the Allergy Specialist?

An appointment can be made by contacting the Allergy Diagnostic and Therapeutic Centre directly on (01) 6214493 or (086) 1213748.

What you need to do before attending the clinic?

You may be advised to avoid anti-histamines for 7 days before your skin testing should that be required.

Do I need a referral letter?

A referral letter is not essential. However, your doctor may refer you or he may send a referral letter directly to the Centre. The Specialist will then report in writing to your doctor on the outcome of your consultation.

What allergy services does the Center provide?

Consultation Options

Visit number 1:

1- thorough allergy and personal medical history documentation

3- Allergy diagnostic tests to include skin prick tests and allergy specific blood tests as appropriate

A full initial consultation (Visit 1, Option A) can take anywhere from 45 to 60 minutes. Allergy testing only (Options B) usually takes 30 minutes. It is important therefore to indicate which investigation you require at time of making the appointment as time would be scheduled accordingly.

What is the difference between allergy investigation performed in the Allergy Diagnostic and Therapeutic Centre and other allergy test performed elsewhere?

Allergy investigations at our Centre are performed by trained doctors and scientists with experience in dealing with different allergic disorders. Only medically and scientifically validated diagnostic and therapeutic approaches are used

Any After Effects to the Skin Prick Testing?

Skin prick test is a very safe procedure. If you get positive skin tests, the site of the test may be itchy initially but the itch usually settles down within an hour. Approximately, one in two hundred people get a lump at the site of the test several hours later. This may take a couple of days to disappear.
